The show in Wembley Stadium, London included performances by Elvis Costello, Sting, U2, Queen, David Bowie, Elton John, The Who, and Paul McCartney. Meanwhile the Philadelphia show, held at John F. Kennedy Stadium saw performances by Run-DMC, The Beach Boys, Madonna, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Neil Young, The Cars. Eric Clapton, Pattie LaBelle, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Four Tops, Hall & Oates, Bob Dylan, and Mick Jagger.

On his trans-Atlantic flight, Collins ran into Cher who was unaware of the event and chose to join him in Philadelphia for the finale performance of “We Are the World.”
